The rain held off just long enough for us to race the unexpected up Chalybes/down Hemlock combo this week. Winners were Jeff Sheldon in 26:21 and Mary Schafer in 33:24. Welcome back to Harry, who has come north for the summer with wild stories of warmth in winter and running the flatlands. Also a warm welcome to Brandon who was visiting for the weekend. To John, who thought it was "not fair" that he beat Mary after she ran a marathon the week before, we advise you to get over it. Russ is running well this spring, despite his poor flexibility, and we're sure the RoxStars are psyched to have him on their relay team especially if he wears the requisite uniform. Where else are $28 shorts priceless?
Now, a few comments from last week's Larry Kershnar Mid-spring Challenge: There were facebook photos from Dan of Ed in yellow tights which leads me to believe that both Dan and Ed were present at Roxbury with yellow tights making much right with the Roxbury world. The run was High Bridge reverse, with winners Desmond O'Grady and Theresa Krebs. Anyone else think "Happy ever after in the marketplace" when they hear "Desmond"? (Bob, name that tune! Go.) BooBoo notes that he ran both High Bridge and High Bridge reverse in exactly the same time. We'll be trying out a new nickname for him--good bye BooBoo, hello StefanBoo. Let me know what you think.
As mentioned previously, Mary and Nate ran the Pittsburgh Marathon last week. It was a hilly course, a rainy day, and with a bomb scare at the finish. Results as follows:
Mary Schafer 3:41:58
Nate Mahrer 3:52:24
Next week we'll run the Jeep Trail, see you there!
