ROXBURY – Craig Hunt, 18, and Gabby Passarelli, 15, both of New Milford, captured the overall men’s and women’s titles, respectively, Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26 against a record field of 200 finishers at the ninth annual Run For A Cure 3.0-mile road race. Hunt finished in 15-minutes, 39-seconds on the rolling course, which included a trip up the steep hill on Chalybes Road. Former University of Colorado All-American cross country runner and five-time New Milford 7.8-mile Road Race champion Mike Nahom, 42, placed second in 15:43. Passarelli was 22nd overall with a clocking of 20:46.

Hunt and Passrelli each received a plaque during the awards ceremony that was held following the run at the Roxbury Congregational Church, which sponsors the race along with the Roxbury Recreation Commission and the weekly Roxbury Road Race Series. The race raised $2,380, which will be donated to the cancer center at New Milford Hospital and the Relay For Life Shepaug Chapter of the American Cancer Society.

The Run For A Cure also included a 3.0-mile walk and a short childrens run. Local volunteers handled the timing at the finish line and the traffic control at the Thanksgiving Day race
