Race Commentary by Mary Schafer.... October 17, 2009
Proving yet again that weather forecasters are better at talking into cameras than accurately predicting weather, the impending Nor'easter held off and we enjoyed a beautiful fall morning in Roxbury. Pat Dennen emerged as the big winner at this week's Roxbury 5k truly storming ahead of the competition and winning by a minute and a half. Pat, how little we know of ye, other than you are 29 and appear to have good hair. Please introduce yourself to some of us non-supersonic runners.
On the women's side, Theresa Krebs took first place and lucky 13th overall. Nate rebounded off his marathon PR like he meant it while Mary thudded along. There was a battle between race directors Bob and Scott with Bob capturing the lead--this time. Harry showed off his sans-moustache aerodynamics while Dan took the opportunity to run away with a young red haired lady named "Ginger". Dan, Harry wants his dog back! And Ginger wants her Roxbury points, so please submit your respective results. Larry is still recovering from a tumble he took last week, but we appreciate his masterful operation of the stopwatch.
This week's Chris Norris fact: Chris Norris doesn’t wear a watch, HE decides what time it is. Which probably comes in handy on Saturday mornings.
Next week we'll see you all on the Jeep Trail. If you're thinking of making a donation to the t-shirt fund, now is the time to do it as the clock is ticking. See Scott for details.
