Down Chalybes - Handicap Race
This week marked the first Ed Sandifer Honorary Handicap race--2.4 miles down Chalybes where anyone, yes anyone, can win! This week's winners were (suspiciously) the first two starters, Dan Lynch on the men's side and Emily Davis on the women's. Dan and Emily proudly take their places as top Roxbury runners and get to act like Jeff for the next week. That means they will be running shirtless next week. Does this mean Jeff will run with a shirt? How the points worked out this writer doesn't know, but Dan and Emily will also enjoy the extra point if they return next week.
It was great fun seeing the honored Ed Sandifer at the finish line. Ed graciously donated all the money from the entry fees to the T-Shirt fund--thank you Ed! That means that even if not on the road, Ed is still beating you slackers.
Especially fun to meet three generations of the Danvers clan. They will challenge the Ongs for multigenerational domination. We note that Alan was introduced to Roxbury racing when he was a student in Dr. Sandifer's class at West Conn. A+ for you Alan!
We're still waiting to hear about LeeAnne's marathon, Nora, Cindy, and Cynthia's tria, and Emily's 2/3 tri. And where was Paul? Wait, who cares? Congratulations to Lou who completed last week's Warrior Run and finishing 4th in his age group.
Next week, 3.55 miles up Hemlock. See you there!
