Hooray for fall!
Hooray for fall! It was another fantastic Saturday for running in Roxbury. And run we did, up and over the newly paved High Bridge Road! In a surprise to no one, Jeff Shelton finished first in 26:02. Marge DeMarrais was first among women and third overall in 27:43. Noted among runners far enough in front to see (ie not this writer) Marge was in front for the first mile and a half. Jeff hung back at the beginning, trying to make new friends throughout the pack as we plummeted down Apple and South Streets.
Nice run for Paul this week, who also managed to run for his own coffee and turnover at breakfast. We are all so proud. Scott also had a great run, though we note he always gets his own coffee. Harry inched up in age but still put down exactly 8 min/miles. And it was a photo finish for Kateri and Emily--you go girls!
In other race results, congratulations to Chris Deming who ran the Hartford Marathon last Saturday morning in 2:51:10 and for 20th place finish! Right on, Chris! Also congratulations to Erik Koenig who finished the marathon in 4:35:02 and Krystal Koenig who finished the half marathon in 1:59:36. [-also, Bruce Goulart finished the marathon in 4:29:05, although they mis-spelled his name in the results -CD]
[On Sunday, Doug and Terri Lee ran the Steamtown Marathon in 3:11:31 (BQ) and 3:54:10 (BQ), respectively. Congratulations! And speaking of Boston, registration for the 2011 Boston Marathon opens on Monday, October 18! - CD]
On October 3, John Adomelis ran the Hampton NH Marathon 3:47:26--way to go John!
And previously mentioned, congratulations to LeeAnne Zarger who completed the Adirondacks Marathon a couple weeks ago. She is back in Roxbury and just looks better than ever. Beauty first!
This being marathon season, kindly send your race results and commentary (like how it went) to ubergirl17 at yahoo dot com.
Next week is the hilly Chalybes + Ranney combo. This writer will be in flat Columbus Ohio running a marathon so will resume the race report upon her return.
