Roxbury Races Report
It was a great spring morning, especially if you were in the mood to run 3.7 miles Ranney to South Street course. Winners were Jeff Sheldon, sans armwarmers, in 22:04 and Baerbel LoSacco in 26:11. Some were nearly stopped in their tracks not only on the way up Ranney but on the way down by what smelled like beer. Blake kept running and passed more than one person at this strategically important spot. Congratulations to Krystal who covered the course in a sub-8 minute/mile pace--perhaps her first time? Cindy actually arrived on time for the start. Harry crushed the course, despite and in spite of his sore knee. Dudley is back, at least for warm up and cool down. Ginger wore herself out chasing a rabbit before the race. Dan was sporting some old-school short-shorts that we wouldn't normally recommend except that he owned the look. Nora made fun of Mary's running skirt--um, hello? Nora? Better to look good than to feel good. Perhaps she should have spent less time heckling and more time keeping track of her keys. An uncharacteristically thin field this Saturday as there were several competing events (see below). Next week is the 4.8 mile Judd's Bridge Short course. See you there!
Other race results: Housatonic Road Hogs at the Ragnar New York Relay: official results not yet available but rumor has it they placed 2nd overall. http://www.ragnarrelay.com/race/newyork/results. There are photos on FB. Looks like someone went a little bit nuts Vanderpainting the van. We look forward to hearing all about who mistook van paint for body paint, who cried at 3 am, and who wore armwarmers. Dirk Feather at the Shires of Vermont Marathon: congratulations Dirk, on a sub-4 hour first marathon! And congratulations on exceeding your fundraising goals. He's got some winning photos on FB. Mary Schafer at the Super Hero Half Marathon: while her 1:46 time was not entirely wondrous, her Wonder Woman costume was. Also winning photos on FB. LeeAnne Zarger (presumablly) at the Scenic View Duathlon. No results were found, but LeeAnne made it back to Roxbury in time for breakfast. Go LeeAnne! We hear there were other Roxbury regulars at the event?
